I'm trying to decide whether to get this for GameCube or PS2.

Normally it would be a no brainer, but I'm thinking if it's gonna be a disappointment anyway, it might have more longevity (for the kids at least) if you can play as Mario and co.

I know the arguments about not as many shoulder buttons, so less tricking ability. But I'm not much of a trickster anyway, so I can't imagine that's gonna bum me out.

It's also $10 cheaper for the Cube. Not that this makes any real difference, but it all helps.

Anyone who has the Cube version and wants to comment about the differences would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure it's $40 across all three systems....unless the cube is discounted cause it's the cube...:lol

In Aus it's $80 - $90 for PS2 and $70 for Cube (at least the places I've seen it).

That is messed up.

Get the PS2 one anyways. Mario is just Mario. He has no special moves or anything special about him. Plus, only PS2 and XBox have the REAL secret characters intended for the game. You know, the ones that are actually good.

You call those GOOD secret characters? :lol :lol

Ah, I see about the prices....weird.

I'd go for ps2, I read somewhere the cube version has framerate issues or something like that.

Though in the long run, you go with what you think everyone would like. Personally, I'd go with ps2, I think the kids would like a cac over mario, they can make themselves.

So no CAC or secret characters in Cube?

Anything else?

I have the Cube version. There's a CAC. How can there not be?

I've never experienced any drop in framerate. I've had the game since launch day and I'm around rank 20 right now. So I've been playing for a bit. It all comes down to preference. Do you want more tricks, or Nintendo characters?

Can you play as Mario in World Tour mode (or whatever they call it now).

Does he make any in-game comments or is he just a shell?

I didn't mean no cac in cube....i mean i think the cac would be more rewarding that mario...so sacrifce mario over a better buttons scheme for you...

don't base your decision on the hidden characters, all the ones on the ps2 are really bad.

Just wait till you beat the game and unlock the unicorn basically, just an uglier version of the cow from ssx3. :yes

I must be stupid then, what exactly does this mean? If you get CAC in both versions, why do I have to sacrifice Mario at all if I get it for the Cube? From what I've read, CAC's not all that impressive anyway????

Is all that's really being said is that there's a better button placement for the PS2 during general gameplay? If so, why mention CAC at all???

Please don't take this as critisism, I'm just very confused as to exactly what is being recommended and why :???

I think vix meant Mario isn't that big a deal considering you already have the CAC feature....don't focus on Mario because there's CAC which can satisfy your personalized character needs

Yeah, that's kinda like what i meant.

It's so hard to type things out sometimes, heh.

If the only reason you want the cuber version is because of mario for the kiddies...then why not just get the ps2 version where it has a better button layout to play and the kids can just play with the cac rather than playing with mario....all systems have the cac...but i mean, mario doesn't offer anything special other than being mario...so just go with the game that has the better layout and the kids would be happy with the cac.

The cac does suck, no matter what system it's on...but in the long run, it really comes down to which system would you feel better with, are you gonna compete? etc...

Sacrfice mario for the better layout...is what i mean in a nutshell :lol

I think you're all forgetting Peach wears a mini-skirt, and nothing is hotter than a Princess made out of pixels in a mini-skirt.

Shit, and I'm wasting my time with the PS2 version...

There's an extra grab button on PS2 so there are more tricks.
There might be more since the discs hold 3x as much as gamecube but I just started playing so I'm not sure

On Tour is only about 1.1 GB in size, so it fits in one GCN disc.

The default controls have been altered for SSX OT; they swapped the Z-trigger and the y-button. (I think the x-button is now the 4th grab....but I rarely use the face button grabs because it's hard to tweak one of those tricks without having a second thumb on your right hand.)

I really don't understand why they felt a need to change it (but that's pretty much my mantra for this game after playing for a few days).
