Hello! I'm new to the Forum, but certainly not new to SSX, what with Tricky being the very first PS2 game I EVER played. Is there a recommended Forum for me introducing myself and telling my SSX Story? Because I can never seem to find them at first on the new Forums I go to.

Anyway, this thread is basically for a little project that I myself have been doing. I'm not sure if it's been done before, but I'm taking the existing maps on the SSX 3 Info part of the site and using Photoshop to add the Snowflake (and BIG Challenge) locations as I find them. I've also decided to include Session Point lines to help the player get a sense of the track from that angle, and to see which Session Point they need to go to to help get the ones they may be missing.

This will make them similar to the Super Jump, Smash and Billboard Maps that IGN did for their guide on Burnout Paradise. The advantage of the maps I'm using of course is that it's almost completely accurate to the courses in the game, so players may see routes they never saw before (a side path in Ruthless is my example, got my last two or three in that one).

The final advantage is that for a person starting from scratch with a character, they'll be able to copy the finished images into paint and use the Paint Bucket tool to mark off the Flakes they've collected so far. In addition to Flake tips provided elsewhere, this should (hopefully) make it MUCH easier to collect them all.

And no, I don't actually know where all the Flakes are myself. It's been ages since I last played the game so I'm using the guide gondee has on GameFAQs to help out if I'm missing any (one on R&B, on a rail you usually jump over after taking a right on Session Point 2, was found thanks to that!). Hopefully when all is said and done I'll have 100% on all characters in no time thanks to the maps, and carved enough snow to fill up New York of course.

There is a hard-to-find-snowflakes video somewhere on this site:

http://www.merqurycity.net/masters/movi ... flakes.wmv

from the tutorials page here: http://merqurycity.com/masters/master_s ... orial.html

I think a video is much easier to use than maps.

Yeah you do have a point about that. But for me, I find maps to be like a Checklist 2.0 because you can check them off where you go and see where all the hard ones are.

But the advantage with videos is that it tells you how to get to them!

Welcome to Merq, btw.

Thanks! SSX has been a huge influence on me and my story, Outcast (the logo of which you can see in my sig).

Also, with my DVD Recorder, I was thinking about making themes for SSX Tricky, 3 and On Tour (the games which I have), but I'm not sure how difficult that would be.

I think the idea behind this is awesome KBABZ. If you are willing to put in the work, I'll be more than happy to host all the maps and put a big link in our SSX 3 section for it. :yes

And welcome KBABZ! On an unrelated and rather lame note on my part, your signature is too tall for forum rules. Total combined size of all pics in your sig can't be any taller than 200 pixels tall by 800 pixels wide. Currently you're about 300 pixels tall, so shrink as needed. :china

Thanks! Yeah I get frustrated whenever I can't find a step-by-step listing on collectibles such as Snowflakes, Clue Bottles or Precursor Orbs, but the Hard to Find listings help.

The dots I've listed are in three categories:

Red=Snowflake
Green=Single BIG Challenge
Green/Blue/Red=Triple Big Challenge.

Orange lines also show where each session point is, and a line on the first one shows where you're spawned and in what direction.

Now of course, the only problem is that I can't list the locations for the Base Stations, but they're relatively simple to find so I figured it wouldn't matter TOO much.

Also, I'm not sure if you use this trick which I use all the time in races, which is basically doing very quick Madonna tricks to fill up the letters very quickly. Using it I can reach Super Uber before I hit the third jump on Snow Jam. I'm pretty sure you would know this after five years of playing the game, but I don't see it mentioned anywhere I think.

Workin' on fixing the sig. The memorial pic is important to me!

Thanks! I'm not into alcohol so I'll just go with a look-a-like: L&P with fake beer froth! (best made up invention ever!).

The Map works pretty well, the only flaw is that I can't mark Flakes too wll in some tunnels, because a couple of them don't have their ceiling's removed (such as the shortcut just before the forest section of Intimidator). I just have to guess where they are.

Also, I've been getting ideas for an SSX 3 PS3 Theme. I'd be able to get the Sound Effects by recording them in the game with my DVD Recorder. Big Mountain will also feature, and I plan to have them ghosted by the two Peak Bosses (that is, the real one and the replacement for if you're playing a Peak Boss already). They are:

=Mac/Griff
=Nate/Viggo (urgh)
=Psymon/Zoe

They'll be in the form of Adam Warren's lovely artwork. I was able to get Psymon's art by going to his dA page (YES, HE HAS A FRICKIN' DA PAGE). That leaves Moby, Elise, Allegra and Kaori to feature elsewhere on the wallpaper. I'll have those in their outrageous costumes from Conquer the Mountain, hopefully while doing their signature move.

Also, got a great joke related to the thing in your sig:

"I typed in www.emoblog.com once.

I got redirected to MySpace."

Hey that's alright. It'll be my first PS3 theme so there's a lot of work for me to do. Icons primarily, however I am aiming to still make it unique. For instance, I plan to replace the glow with the "Icon Selected" lines in the Pause Menu.

I do need some images though. A nice picture of Big Mountain and the SSX 3 logo will be a great help. So far I've made the XMB 'menu' and put in two screens as placeholders. Here's what I have so far:

http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i250/ ... ercopy.jpg

Obviously I have a lot of work but I like the framing for the XMB. To me all I have to do for the PSP version is to make the XMB Frame to fit.

I was also planning to make Tricky and Vanilla SSX Themes, however VSSX will be a bit tricky (no pun intended) since I don't actually own that one.

Dude, thanks A LOT. I was hoping for a modern image of the SSX 3 logo that was transparent, but that'll have to do.

Completed Peak 3 for Griff, and I've run into a problem. Normally the long train tracks in Metro City is able to net me the 300m Rail Highlight, but for some reason it's not being picked up so I can't get it. Are there any other rails I could try out?

Handplant advice would be good also, I can never seem to stay on long enough!

Ok, finished with the Big Mountain image, adding Adam Warren's artwork to it. This'll be on the Wallpaper, and the surrounding images will be of the remaining four characters playing around: Moby, Elise, Allegra and Kaori.

Hope you like it!

I guess u was doing the 300 metres highlight on freestyle (freeplay), but u have to do it in a race (so just do merq city in a race by picking that rail ^^)
and for the handplant just practice (I haven't completed the 8 second myself ^^)
and yes I LIKE it but if I understood you correct that is going to be the snowflake map, am I right ?

I don't know if you did this on purpose, but the Peak bosses/stand-ins are:

Peak 1:
Mac/Griff
Peak 2:
Nate/Zoe
Peak 3:
Psymon/Elise

Oh, damn. Thanks for that.

Changed the BIG Mountain image to just have the three main bosses. Elise didn't have anything useable for me to use.

Ok, I've uploaded the Snowflake locations to Photobucket. Sadly the MB limit means that it's had to shrink the images, even though they're JPEGs (although high quality ones at that). Again, I've only done Peaks 2 and 3 so far, Peak 1 I've yet to do. Here they are!

Yep, that'll work too! In fact, go ahead and do that, it'll make it easier to download. :china

Finished! My email service is crap at sending even not-so-small sized files, so I've uploaded it to FileFactory:

Hope they help everyone out!
