I've seen the opening ceremony and it was... amazing. I just don't get why Russia spends so much money on this.

I'll watch The Figure skating for Yu-Na Kim and that'll probably be about it.

I can't work out the BBC viewing schedule at all and the red button is useless.

I've been watching the slopestyle events and wondering why they aren't doing 10 flips off every jump. :dead

I thought I'd try online for Slopestyle, but the events are SO late live. Got through the Men's semifinals and then fell asleep, and slept through the Women's too. I tried to find the replays of the finals when I woke up and the official streaming sites spoiled them for me. :dead Halfpipe is earlier though, so hopefully I'll catch those and then try my luck with primetime for Snowboard Cross.

The Men's semis were wicked good though!! It was a nailbiter 'til the end for me because I was pulling for Mark McMorris and Yuki Kadono and they were the very bottom two to get in. I'm so happy that McMorris got bronze. HUGE props for him riding with a fractured rib.

When I first started watching snowboarding events I didn't think I would be able to appreciate them because of SSX, but once you get into the right mindset they can be really fun. I wish I could remember to catch more of them.

Sven Thorgren was great, sad to see him just outside of a podium placement for slopestyle. I'm most excited for the men's Ice Hockey. Sweden got a great team for the Olympics, I hope they'll go far. Also rooting for Henrik Harlaut in the Ski Slopestyle. :thumbsup

The Dutch nailed the Speedskating today. I ended up watching the whole event. Hot as hell Mulder twins got First and third.

Lost to the Swedes twice today in curling. Shameful.

I missed the team figure skating on account of the BBC being shit, which I'm not impressed about.

Will be checking out the womens figure skating next week though. I LOVE watching Yu-Na Kim on the ice.

Also with Gondee, The snowboard freestyle events seems so bland when you're used to uber tricks :shrug

NBC had the women's slopestyle finals, the men's downhill, and team figure skating last night (I only caught the end though). This GIF sums it up:

I always hate how Norway wins everything. Sweden better pull this off better than last time in Vancouver.

The pairs figure skating is so much better than Ice Dance tbh.

I cannot wait for the actual figure skating events to start, team and ladies is always great. I don't get into the mens so much, although Australia had some AMAZING commentary for the mens in Vancouver. So wish their were youtube videos.

Mens pipe finals was amazing to watch! Feeling for Shaun White missing his gold hat trick ending up on 4th, though I'm sure he really wasn't interested in silver or bronze. :) Ipod's gold run was amazing though! And a bit surprised seeing Japan on both silver and bronze, one of them was apparently only 15 years old(?!)

On to the ladies final!

When is the ladies?

I also watched halfpipe and was yelling at the TV. I couldn't believe Shaun messed up, had already booked his plane to New York and celebrated as though he had gold before realising he didnt.

Truly, truly a Griff Simmons moment.

He was gracious in defeat though and Iouri's run was unbelievable.

Russians nailed the Ice skating pairs too.

Im really loving the events so far - the slope style (board and ski) is great :thumbsup

this is when they should have plugged another SSX game, think of the following they could have got from those interested in the new event - maybe in 4 years then?

Well, afai can interpret Viasat's schedule, the finals will begin tomorrow at 5:25 PM GMT (18:25 Swedish time GMT+1). 9:55 AM heat 1 qualifications, 11:55 AM heat 2 and semi finals at 2:55 PM.

I was so happy Charles Hamelin took gold for Canada in ST 1500 speed skating, nice followup from 4 years ago :D, and my opinion on mens SB slopestyle is that I'm glad Mark McMorris got bronze considering there was actually a pretty competitive field that day.

on a side note, this was the first big photoshope meme to come out of this already:

Men's halfpipe was intense! Shocker that Shaun White didn't win, but I-Pod totally deserved it with that second run. Also watched ladies' ski slopestyle, which was actually really neat. They got a lot more tricky up at the jib section than the snowboarders did.

Also, congrats to Erin Hamlin for making US history in singles luge today!

I thought about this and am still kinda irrationally hoping for an announcement of something this month. :heh

Yes!

There were some fantastic skates today but I think the Americans doing Skyfall was my favourite. The French outfits were the best of the day. Getting geared up for Yu-Na next week now!

Hahaha, Audi are brilliant.

Watching slopestyle skiing now, and really enjoying it. Henrik was penalised harshly I thought. Hoping James Woods can pull something out of the bag with his injury on his second run to claim a medal but still so proud.

Also owning the skeleton too, go Lizzy!

Also Norway's Alexander Aurdal could be Ty on skiis. He even has the right nose wth.
