Alright, so I ordered Tricky, OT and Blur about a week ago (since the only game I owned was SSX 3), and I got Tricky and Blur today in the mail. I decided to play Tricky first to see why people think it's such a good game. So far I'm having fun, but I'm really struggling with the controls.

I'm used to the SSX 3 xbox controls, so that's been my foundation while playing Tricky for the gamecube. I've caught on to most of the changes, but one thing that's driving me nuts is the d-pad when I'm trying to do turns in the air. Every time I want to simply turn horizontally, Eddie ends up going diagonal instead (which would imply that I'm holding up/down on the dpad, which I'm not - or if I am, then it's very subtle and uncontrollable). He goes so slowly in the air when he turns diagonally that 90% of the time I end up crashing, and it's getting me frustrated. I'm curious as to whether or not there's some way I can get Eddie to auto-correct himself before he lands so that he doesn't crash all the time. Can anyone help me out here? It's a new game, so i'm not sure if I just need to boost his stats until the turns become a little more efficient or what, but for the most part I keep crashing from 1st to 6th place in races because of this.

Use the control stick to move your board to complete flips if you're about to crash.

There is no auto correct. It's the big difference, once you get used to it you get very satisfied. And the flips do get faster as you build up the stats.

Thanks guys, I've noticed that pushing the control stick up usually helps :)
So far I unlocked all the characters :lol Personally I'm liking SSX 3 a lot more, but Tricky's stages are insane ahaha

Yeah, they totally improved on the ssx tricky controls in SSX 3. But if you've played the demo for ssx 3 on the xbox (which i still have) it seems like they were originally planning on using very similar controls to tricky. I'm glad they changed it.
