I really like Blur, but for some reason this game feels more difficult to nav and find stuff than previous entries to the series. Hence, my following two questions:

1) Are there any options for multiple starting points in a single course? If I miss a ubertrick icon at the bottom of the course, I find myself going back to the map and restarting the course. I don't think there is any other way, but I'd like to confirm this, in case there is a way and I'm just wasting a lot of time.

2) Is there a continuous, whole-mountain freeride option? I don't recall reading anything about a "seamless mountain experience" because I just assumed they'd carry this feature over from SSX 3 and On Tour. Am I missing something?

There sorta is - there's no "session points" if that's what you're asking. What I've been doing is choosing to go to map and choose a different event (say race or slopestyle) which usually start at different areas of the track. When the option comes up to play, just cancel out of the event, you'll be placed at a different starting point. Other than that, yeah, restarting is your only option.

You CAN ride the whole mountain, but you have to choose the one track in each mountain that you can ride through to the bottom. There's one single track in each peak that the other tracks connect from, just choose that one (I think it's Ruthless on Peak 3). Just look at the map to see the courses. There's no "event" option for riding the whole mountain.

Gotcha. I was doing that for one of the little uber coins on a wire between billboards in Snow Jam, I think it was.

Okay, that's not bad. I think the Peak Two "connector course" is Happiness, but I'll have to check. (I just more or less completed everything on Peak 1, now moving to Peak 2 tonight.)

Do you ever get the feeling that EA pulls certain things away (bolt-on's, character interactions), just so they can reintroduce them in a future SSX installment, rename them, and call it "NEW!" :rolleyes (Maybe they gave us a bit too much in SSX 3?) Regardless, I really enjoy Blur and I still think it's a worthy entry to the series. The Wii itself ain't too shabby either. :)

Sometimes I do, I think it's more a case of "what can we change before the deadline." In this case I think they were producing with a much smaller team and timeline and just had to make do. They figured the controls would carry the game, and I suppose they do.

That makes sense. They did well with the smaller team and timeline (and budget too, I'm guessing).

One thing made me nearly amputate my own right deltoid tonight though (to stop the PAIN). I tried for about 10 solid minutes to nail down this one uber, and was probably successful in only about 1 in every 40 tries or so. It's the uber that starts off like a lowercase letter 'u' and the loops back to the left to make a bigger 'U'. Any tips on that one? I tried all different variations while trying to keep it as smooth/flowing as possible, but no luck. :frusty

My shoulder's gonna feel it tomorrow morning. :heh

That one is just practice, I don't have a whole lot of tips for that one. Usually when I landed that one it's when I overexaggerate the end motion. It's still a tough one, though. Just go with the few you can do regularly to avoid frustration. For me the impossible one is the clef:

Another question: Other riders can knock me down, but can I knock them down? I've tried throwing snowballs, but I'm not too successful with those in mid-race.

I'm halfway through Peak 3, and so far the Peak 2 Pipe and the Ruthless Race are by far the toughest. The slalom courses have been cake compared to those. (Maybe I just suck too hard when it comes to pipe events, but I always deck check on the powder copings of that Peak 2 Pipe.)

It's not easy, I've never been consistent knocking others over with snowballs. Don't count on doing it. The few times I did it was because I ran into the person with my board.

So there isn't a system for knocking others over without tossing a snowball? That's too bad, as Psymon's been able to do that to me a few times now. :heh (As if the Ruthless race challenge versus Psymon hasn't been tough enough for me already without that!)

By the way, I actually had the knack down for the clef note, but then lost it. I tried to keep it fluid, and I would do something different with my wrist on the final, straight downstroke. I thought maybe my Wiimote was facing downward when coming down in the final stroke, so I over corrected and tilted it upward slightly while finishing the clef's final downstroke and I actually got it a few times. Give it a try on the rare occasion that that works for you. ;)

If its possible try starting the double cleff from the bottom. You should find it easier.
